How to Use the Age & Date Calculator on FreeHandyly
The FreeHandyly Age & Date Calculator gives an exact answer to how old you are, down to the day, hour and minute. A second panel measures the difference between any two dates. Both update as you type and run entirely in your browser.
- Enter the date of birth. Choose the date in the date box. Add the time of birth if you want the minutes count to be exact.
- Choose the comparison date. Leave the as-of date empty to calculate age as of right now, or pick another date to find an age on a specific day, such as an application deadline or school cut-off.
- Read the age. You see your age in years, months and days, followed by total months, weeks, days, hours and minutes lived, the weekday you were born and a countdown to your next birthday.
- Compare two dates. In the second panel enter a start and an end date to get the difference in years, months and days, total days and weeks, and the number of weekdays.
- Copy or note the result. Use the figures for forms, planning and records. Remember that results are based on the dates you enter.
Why This Tool is Helpful
Official forms often ask for age on a particular date, and mental arithmetic with different month lengths and leap years is error prone. Eligibility for school admission, exams, jobs, insurance and visas can hinge on exact age. A calculator removes doubt, and the date difference panel handles planning tasks such as counting days to an event or the length of a project.
- Parents and students can check school admission and exam age requirements on a specific date.
- Job and visa applicants can verify age limits on application deadlines.
- Event planners and project managers can count the days and weekdays between milestones.
- Families can count down to birthdays and anniversaries.
- Curious people can find out how many days, hours or minutes they have been alive.
How the calculation works
Age is counted in whole years, then whole months, then remaining days, borrowing days from the previous month when needed, which is the way age is normally stated. Leap years are handled by the calendar. People born on 29 February have their birthday shown as 28 February in non-leap years. The minutes and hours figures use your device's local time zone and, if you leave the as-of date empty, the current moment. Weekday counts treat Monday to Friday as working days and do not account for public holidays.
When exact age matters
Many rules depend on completed years on a certain date rather than the year of birth. School admissions often use a cut-off such as the first of September, sports leagues group players by age on a fixed date, and visas, pensions, insurance and job applications may set minimum or maximum ages. Enter that exact date in the age on field to check your position instead of estimating. For long projects, the date difference panel helps plan deadlines, count days to an exam, measure how long a contract has run, or work out how many working days remain before a launch.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How is exact age calculated?
Full years are counted first, then full months, then the remaining days, using the actual length of each month, including leap years.
Why do my minutes change if I leave the as-of date empty?
With no as-of date, the calculator uses the current time, so the total grows every moment. Pick a specific date to freeze the result.
Can I find my age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter any date in the as-of field to see how old you were or will be on that day.
Are my dates saved?
No. Calculations happen in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?
Enter your date of birth and read the result in years, months and days. The tool counts from the birth date to today unless you choose a different as-of date.
Can I calculate the number of days between two dates?
Yes. The second panel measures the difference between any two dates, so you can check a deadline, a trip or an anniversary.
